Android App: installation and first access
The Simple Bike Rental Admin app allows you to manage bookings, bikes, and availability directly from your Android smartphone.
The app is currently distributed via Google Play private testing, so you can easily install it and receive updates directly from the Play Store.
Before you start
To use the app, you need:
- a WordPress site with Simple Bike Rental Pro installed and active
- a WordPress account with administrator access (or sufficient permissions)
- an Android device with an active Google account
1. Request access to the app
To install the app, you must first request access through this page:
https://www.simplebikerental.com/android-app/
On the page, you will find a form where you can enter your Google account email address.
Important: Use the same Google account you use on your Android device. This is required to install the app from the Play Store. After submitting your request, you will receive the installation link within a few hours.
2. Install the app from Google Play
Once your account has been enabled, you will receive a link to install the app directly from Google Play.
Open the link on your Android phone and complete the installation as usual from the Play Store.
Installing the app via Google Play is the recommended method, as it allows you to receive updates automatically without needing to reinstall the app manually for each new version.
3. Prepare your login details
To connect the app to your WordPress site, you will need three pieces of information:
- your site’s REST API URL
- your WordPress username
- an Application Password generated in WordPress
4. Create an Application Password in WordPress
For security reasons, the app does not use your regular WordPress password. Instead, you need to generate a dedicated Application Password.
How to create an Application Password
- Log in to your WordPress admin dashboard
- Go to Users
- Open your user profile
- Scroll down to the Application Passwords section
- Enter a descriptive name, for example:
Simple Bike Rental Admin App - Click on Add Application Password
- WordPress will generate a password automatically
Important: Copy the password immediately and store it in a safe place. WordPress will not display it again in the same way after this screen.
5. Enter the correct REST API URL
In the app, you must enter the full REST API endpoint, not just your website URL.
Example
If your site is https://example.com, the URL to enter will be:
If WordPress is installed in a subfolder, for example https://example.com/rental/, the correct URL will be:
Note: The URL must be complete and correct. If any part of the REST API path is missing, the app will not be able to connect to your site.
6. Log in to the app
After installing the app, open it and enter:
- Base URL: your full REST API endpoint
- Username: your WordPress username
- Application Password: the password generated in WordPress
Then run the connection test. If the test is successful, tap Save.
The app will connect to your site and load the dashboard.
7. What to do if login does not work
If you are unable to log in, check the following:
Check the REST API URL
Make sure you entered the full endpoint, for example: https://example.com/wp-json/simpbire/v1 and not just the website domain.
Check username and Application Password
Make sure you entered:
- the correct WordPress username
- the correct Application Password
Warning: The Application Password generated by WordPress consists of multiple groups of characters separated by spaces. The spaces are part of the password and must be entered exactly as shown. Make sure not to add extra spaces at the beginning or end.
Check HTTPS
The app requires a secure connection. Make sure your site is accessible via HTTPS and that the SSL certificate is valid.
Check that the plugin is active
Make sure that Simple Bike Rental Pro is installed, up to date, and active on the WordPress site you are trying to connect.
8. App updates
Since the app is installed via Google Play, updates will be delivered directly through the Play Store.
This means you will not need to reinstall the app manually to receive new versions.
